Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's Minister of Education Karin Prien (CDU) currently sees no need to cancel school holidays in the northernmost federal state like in Bavaria.

"It is far too early for such considerations," said Prien on Wednesday of the German press agency.

There are no winter holidays in February or March in Schleswig-Holstein, and the Easter holidays don't start until April.

“In addition, we naturally had the advantage in Schleswig-Holstein that our school year started early and, especially in late summer, with very low incidences, we hardly had any missed lessons for the pupils.

All in all, we had been able to carry out an almost regular school year so far, unlike in the south of the republic, ”said Prien.

In Bavaria, the carnival holidays were canceled due to the Corona crisis. The holiday week, which is actually planned from February 15 to 19, will not exist - during that time, lessons can be rescheduled that had been canceled due to the pandemic, said Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) on Wednesday after a special meeting of the Bavarian cabinet in Munich.
