The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority announced the operation of the Khorfakkan tunnel station with a voltage of 11/33 kilovolts, which will link the network of Shees area to the main electricity network, and dispense with generators in the region.

The new station will use the lighting projects of Khor Fakkan Road and tunnel services, whether related to lighting or ventilation, and “Etisalat” and “Du” companies, or the fire-fighting systems and resting of the Rafisa Dam, in keeping with the urban projects in the city of Khor Fakkan.

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport station was also operational, as some of the academy's buildings were fed by two temporary feeders from the Yarmouk and Qadisiyah stations.

The station contributes to achieving the stability of electrical current for the academy and its facilities and neighboring projects.

The Chairman of the Authority, Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, confirmed that development projects related to electricity, water and gas services are continuing in the areas of Sharjah, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince Al-Ahd, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, pointing out that the next phase will witness conducting a study and evaluation of performance in the areas of the authority’s work, developing human cadres, and increasing the percentage of Emiratisation.

Al-Suwaidi explained that operating the tunnels and the academy stations in Khor Fakkan would serve the development projects, and considered a qualitative addition to serving the city's residents and visitors.

For his part, the Director of Khorfakkan Administration, Eng. Ahmed Al-Mulla, indicated that the operation of the new tunnels station will increase the efficiency of lighting the new Khorfakkan Road, which includes more than 2,282 lighting poles with lengths ranging between eight and 16 meters, and 4,019 lanterns and lamps with capacities of 250, 400 and 600. And (low voltage) cables of 120 km, (high voltage) cables 11 kV of 98 km, 33 kV cables of 57 km long, 37 distribution stations of 11 kV, and the use of cables of 25 km long in tunnels.

The new tunnel station will also serve the residents of the Shees area and the development projects in the area, as the Shees network will be linked to the main network of Khor Fakkan, which will achieve stability and stability for the networks, allow the possibility of expanding development projects, and provide security and safety standards in the operation of the station.
