Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - For the first time since the beginning of November, all Baden-Württemberg city and rural districts are again below an incidence of 200. The number indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants in a region are infected with the corona virus within one week to have.

Both in the Enz district, which has so far been severely affected, as well as in the Tuttlingen district, in Pforzheim and in the Calw district, the value fell.

The threshold is important as a yardstick for the planned restriction of the radius of movement of 15 kilometers around the place of residence in many countries.

In Baden-Württemberg, however, this requirement is not to be introduced initially.

Overall, the number of reported new corona infections in the southwest increased significantly again.

The State Health Office (LGA) recorded 2506 new cases on Wednesday (as of 4:00 p.m.), as the authority in Stuttgart announced.

The total number of infections rose to 251,883. 50 more people died with or from the virus, a total of 5229 so far.

An interpretation of the data remains difficult because around Christmas and the turn of the year corona cases were discovered, recorded and transmitted with a delay, according to the RKI.

According to the Association of Accredited Laboratories in Medicine (ALM), the number of laboratory tests had fallen again over the turn of the year compared to Christmas week.

Compared to the week before Christmas, the number has roughly halved in the past week.

"We expect that more people will be tested again at the beginning of the year with the opening of medical practices and test centers," said the association's first chairman, Michael Müller, on Tuesday.

The RKI assumes that the reporting data on the occurrence of the infection cannot be used again until the end of next week / beginning of the week after next, as it was said on request.

According to Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) on January 17th, clarity about the infection process after the holidays is to be gained.

The so-called seven-day incidence in Baden-Württemberg was 112.1 nationwide.

All 44 urban and rural districts in the southwest are above the value of 50, from which a district is considered a risk area.

The majority of the districts have an incidence between 100 and 200.

According to data from the Divi intensive care registry, 602 patients are in intensive care in the south-west, as the authority further announced.

354 of them would be ventilated invasively.

A total of 2122 of the 2442 available intensive care beds (86.9 percent) are currently occupied.
