Munich (dpa / lby) - A burning power distribution box has ensured that an apartment building in Munich has been evacuated.
A resident noticed a fire smell from the basement after a power failure and dialed the emergency number, as a fire department spokesman said on Wednesday.
A respiratory protection team was able to locate the power distribution box in the basement of the house on Tuesday evening.
For reasons unknown up to now, it caught fire.
Several people, including children, had to leave the house and warm up in an ambulance. According to the fire department, no one was injured. The house was smoked with a high-performance fan, but initially remains uninhabitable until the damage is repaired, as it was said. It was disconnected from the power supply. According to initial estimates, the damage amounts to around 50,000 euros.
