Hanover (dpa / lni) - The FDP in the Lower Saxony state parliament has criticized the planned tightening of the corona rules as disproportionate.

The extension of the lockdown to the end of January is understandable due to the lack of reliable infection numbers, but there were no viable reasons for tightening, said FDP parliamentary group leader Stefan Birkner on Wednesday in Hanover.

Birkner described the contact restriction to one household plus one additional person as "absurd".

«I am allowed to visit a couple, but the couple are not allowed to visit me.

That's nonsense, "he said.

Birkner also rejected the planned restriction of freedom of movement in hotspots to a 15-kilometer radius.

The regulation is "so far not comprehensibly justified" and the interpretation is unclear.

The FDP parliamentary group leader accused the state government of acting unilaterally at the expense of the citizens. While there are more and more restrictions on people, the government itself is doing too little to fight the pandemic. As examples, he cited the slow vaccination start, the organization of distance learning in schools and the protection of nursing homes.
