Covid-19: United Kingdom announces new business aid plan

UK Finance Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a new plan to help businesses hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic in the UK.

Unveiled by the British Minister of Finance, this new business support plan amounting to 4.6 billion pounds is intended for many shops, bars and restaurants closed once again due to the pandemic.

On their knees for months, British companies will be able to receive up to 9,000 pounds (the equivalent of 10,000 euros).

The government is also setting up a fund of 600 million pounds for those who would not be eligible for the new aid.

These injections of money should allow businesses, bars and restaurants to preserve their jobs until spring, assures Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Because these companies are in dire need of it.

The new containment decided to fight against the spread of the new strain of the coronavirus is as strict as the first, put in place last spring.

A sledgehammer for many sectors rolled back by bankruptcies and social breakdown.

Survival is the watchword for these SMEs, as UK supermarkets hit record sales levels in December.

Thanks to the Christmas holidays and the closure of pubs and restaurants, sales made by retail chains amounted to 11.7 billion pounds, a level never seen in a month.
