Beijing was hit by a heavy cold wave with temperatures expected at -18 degrees in the night and peaks of up to -31 degrees in terms of the perceived frost due to the wind that has been whipping the Chinese capital since yesterday, according to forecasts of the local station meteorological.

The authorities have launched the yellow alert for continued low temperatures earlier this week, predicting the daily low in the city of less than -12 degrees until Thursday.

Beijing has a weather alert system divided into 4 levels with a color dedicated to low temperatures and storms: red represents the most severe conditions, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
