They were to reopen this Thursday but they remain without prospects.

Ski resorts will probably not be able to reopen on January 7 as initially planned by the government, and industry professionals fear losing valuable reservations for the month of February, which represents "20% of turnover".

After losing Christmas to the coronavirus, will ski resorts lose their entire season?

This is in any case what is looming, since the latter must in theory reopen Thursday, January 7.

But it's a safe bet that this is not the case, because of the evolution of the health situation in France.

Without perspective, industry professionals are worried about the February holidays and the winter holidays traditionally devoted to snow sports.

Annoyed, Alexandre Maulin, president of Domaines Skiables de France, appealed to the government at the microphone of Europe 1, because it is "the entire season that is at stake".

An "incomprehensible" situation

"Tomorrow, theoretically, we will have our ski lifts. But the texts are not up to date to allow us to do so: it is incomprehensible."

A situation all the more difficult to bear as these professionals had proposed in the fall "to be able to make local appreciation".

"The government is able to do it on sanitary measures, why not do it on opening permits?"

"20% of turnover"

"We have set up protocols for an outdoor activity where the mask, on the moments of regrouping that are the ski lifts, is obligatory. So, we do not see how our sector of activity could allow to propagate the epidemic "he abounds.

Because behind the stake of the reopening of the ski resorts on January 7 looms that of the February holidays.

Leave which represents 20% of the turnover of the profession, recalls Alexandre Maulin.

And without reopening on January 7, the president of Domaines Skiables de France suggests that there will be no reservations for this period, and therefore no French on the slopes.
