They were spotted by a witness who warned the police and followed the suspects until their arrest.

Three men aged between 30 and 50 were arrested Sunday afternoon, around 4 p.m., in Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, near Nantes.

They transported construction equipment and scaffolding elements in trailers pulled by two vehicles, reports the Loire-Atlantique gendarmerie.

The theft had been committed in the early afternoon in a company located east of Angers.

A local resident who knew the company attended the departure of the vehicles.

Then he followed them for a hundred kilometers, warning the gendarmerie.

The arrest was made at the Nantes ring road, in collaboration with the national police.

The three suspects will be presented this Tuesday to the prosecutor's office in Saumur (Maine-et-Loire).
