Approved by the Central Military Commission, the General Office of the Central Military Commission has recently issued the newly revised "Regulations on the Management of Marriage of Military Personnel", which will come into effect on January 1, 2021.

  The newly revised "Regulations" implement the "Civil Code of the People's Republic of China", in accordance with relevant national and military laws and regulations, adhere to the people-oriented approach, highlight problem orientation, and standardize and strengthen the management of military personnel's marriage.

  The newly revised "Regulations" consist of 5 chapters and 26 articles. The revised content is mainly to adjust the age of first marriage for military personnel, remove the age limit for non-commissioned officers in the garrison or within the military to find objects to marry, and clarify that "the marriage age of military personnel shall not be earlier than 22 years old. Women must not be older than 20 years of age", "Conscripts are not allowed to apply for marriage during active service, and military academies and colleges are not allowed to apply for marriage during their undergraduate and junior college studies"; clarify the prohibition of marriage between military personnel and marriage partners; distinguish between active military personnel , Civilian personnel, military-managed retirees, etc., standardize the processing methods and approval authority for different types of military personnel applying for marriage and divorce.
