Nordhorn (dpa / lni) - Handball trainer Daniel Kubes has tested positive for the corona virus and can therefore not prepare the Czech national team for the World Cup in Egypt as planned.

This was announced by the Czech association and Kubes' association HSG Nordhorn-Lingen.

Czech assistant coach Jan Filip also tested positive, both are in quarantine.

While the former Bundesliga professional Filip has no symptoms, Kubes feels sick.

«I have to admit that I am sick.

To be honest, my primary goal is to get well.

There is no reason to take it lightly ”, the 42-year-old is quoted on the association's homepage.

The Czech Republic will meet the hosts, Chile and Sweden in Group G at the World Cup in Egypt (January 13 to 31).

Players have not yet tested positive.
