Berlin (AP) - Johannes Volkmann, the grandson of the former Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl, has in the quiz show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

mastered the 64,000 euro question.

Volkmann answered the question correctly on Monday in the show by moderator Günther Jauch, whose daughter has the first name Olympia.

It's the tennis player Serena Williams.

He is rarely asked about his grandfather, said the Hessian of the German press agency on Tuesday.

That hardly plays a role in his everyday life.

"It is important to me that I am judged on my own performance," he said.

When Günther Jauch asked Volkmann on the show whether he wanted to become a politician, he said: "At the age of 23, I find it difficult to say: I will become a politician and will do that for the next 50 years."

But he thinks politics is exciting.

Volkmann works in the European Parliament for the CDU member Sven Simon from Hesse.

At the beginning of February, Volkmann can try his hand at the 125,000 euro question.

In the meantime, RTL shows special episodes of the program in which Volkmann did not participate.

From the possible profit he wants to buy a new car, he said on the program.

"Should I actually end up with a large amount of profit from the show, I would like to use it sparingly and make provisions for the future," he said dpa.

If the answer was wrong, Volkmann would fall back to 500 euros.

Volkmann said he had the idea last year to apply for the quiz show.

"While I was in bed with Corona last year, a good friend motivated me to apply as a distraction from the quarantine," he said.

He especially had respect for questions about pop culture.
