Würzburg (dpa / lby) - After a so far disastrous season, the Corona catch-up game against FC St. Pauli should be the turning point for the Würzburger Kickers.

This is what coach Bernhard Trares hopes before the cellar duel against Hamburg on Wednesday evening (6.30 p.m.) in his own stadium.

With only four points, the Kickers are bottom of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga, the Pauli is only one place and four points better.

«It will be about unity.

And so, sorry for working our asses off, ”said the coach in preparation this week, as the“ Main-Post ”reported.

After the 2: 4 against Karlsruher SC on Saturday, despite a long outnumber, Trares demands a reaction from his team and offers the prospect of three winter newcomers.

The Lower Franconia had recently signed Rolf Feltscher (Los Angeles Galaxy) for the defense and the attackers Stefan Maierhofer (Admira Wacker Mödling) and Marvin Pieringer (SC Freiburg II) as reinforcements.

"But you will not make it alone," said Trares and takes the whole team to the task.

With a win, the Kickers would move up to one point on Kiezkicker, who have not won eleven games, and also reduce the gap to the relegation rank to four points.

The game was postponed to January 6th in December due to a corona infection in the Kickers team.

A defeat - it would be the sixth in a row and the twelfth in 14 games so far - on the other hand, could be decisive in the relegation battle of the 2nd division.

The hope of salvation is still there with Trares, as he said after the KSC disappointment: "With me it will never go out as long as we can make it arithmetically."
