Israel's approval of the vaccine marks a significant moment in the company's history and in the global fight against coronavirus, Moderna CEO Stefan Bansel said.

“I want to thank the Israeli Ministry of Health for their work as the ministry's team worked tirelessly with us to ensure that the vaccine is approved in a timely manner,” he said.

The report said Israel became the third country to approve the Moderna vaccine.

It is also approved by the USA and Canada.

Israel has requested 6 million doses of the vaccine, which are scheduled to begin shipping in January.

On December 25, the Israeli government approved the introduction of total quarantine in the country.
