Lübeck (dpa / lno) - After the violent death of a 38-year-old in an empty villa in Lübeck, the police found three projectiles in the house.

This made it clear that the shots were fired at the man in the house, said the press spokeswoman for the Lübeck public prosecutor, Ulla Hingst, on Tuesday.

The motive of the 57-year-old shooter, however, is still unclear, she said.

The 57-year-old surprised the 38-year-old and his companion in his house the day before New Year's Eve and shot the refugees.

The 38-year-old was hit by three bullets.

He died a short time later in the hospital.

According to Hingst, there is also no reliable information about the background of the suspect.

However, there is some evidence that the 57-year-old was the owner of the neglected-looking house, said Hingst.

A hand grenade that was found in the house after the crime was not a live grenade, said Hingst.

According to previous findings, the 38-year-old and his companion had entered the house out of curiosity, which they thought was abandoned.

In the house they were surprised by the 57-year-old.

The investigation was ongoing, said Hingst.
