Berlin (dpa / lnw) - With 190 deaths after a corona infection, a high number has been registered in North Rhine-Westphalia in the past 24 hours.

The number of people who died with or from the corona virus rose to over 7,000 in the most populous state, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Tuesday.

Overall, new corona cases were reported to the health authorities compared to the previous day in 1969.

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week was 117 - a slight decrease compared to the previous day (120).

In the fight against the pandemic, a value below 50 is aimed for.

Depending on the region, the incidence of infections is very different in the country: The Hochsauerlandkreis has a 7-day incidence of 65, Herne has the highest value with 204, followed by Gütersloh (184) and Herford (171).

To what extent the numbers reflect the actual infection level is still open.

The RKI also pointed out on Tuesday that fewer tests were carried out around Christmas and the turn of the year and the health authorities submitted fewer reports to the RKI.
