A new survey from Novus shows that Swedes smile 45 percent less today than before the pandemic.

But it is not only their own smile that has faded, but Swedes also experience that others smile less.

- There is reason to smile less after this shitty year that has been.

It is clear that it sets the mood, says the author and psychologist Per Naroskin.

At the same time, he points out that it is a simplification to draw conclusions about only how happy we are based on smiles as there are several different types of smiles.

Among other things, Per Naroskin mentions the polite smile, the flattering smile and the social smile when seeking contact.

Among pensioners, the corresponding figure was six out of ten, while young adults and students, on the other hand, feel that they smile more.
