Hamburg (dpa / lno) - With the vaccination of employees of the Hamburg outpatient care services, the vaccination center in the exhibition halls will start operations on Tuesday.

Initially, around 500 appointments per day would be assigned for the corona vaccination, the health authority announced on Monday.

After the employees in outpatient care, Hamburg residents over 80 years of age would also be called to the center for vaccination from mid-January, it said.

Mayor Peter Tschentscher and Health Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) are expected in Hall 3 for the start of the vaccination on Tuesday.

The vaccination center has a modular structure and allows up to 7000 vaccinations per day at full load.

So far, Hamburg has received almost 30,000 vaccination doses from the manufacturers Biontech / Pfizer. First, the residents and employees in retirement and nursing homes or hospital employees were vaccinated.
