Hanover (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony has promised a restart after the Christmas holidays with increased restrictions after the ministers of education had consulted about the corona situation at the schools.

It is clear that if the lockdown continues, the previous restrictions cannot remain, said Minister of Culture Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD) on Monday in Hanover.

He could not imagine that elementary school students would return to face-to-face classes in full class.

Restrictions to reduce contact are also necessary in day care centers.

A partially discussed extension of the holidays beyond the coming weekend did not bring up Tonne.

Before the Christmas holidays, he had initially announced that primary school students would continue to be taught together until the end of the half-year, but with a mask requirement.

Face-to-face lessons should also be given for prospective high school graduates, the other classes should be taught alternately in split classes according to the so-called scenario B.

School closings are not ruled out either.

The ministry plans to announce the exact specifications for schools and day-care centers on Tuesday after the deliberations of the federal and state governments on the extension of the lockdown.

Several scenarios have been prepared, it said.
