Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - According to the state government, the Saarland will introduce a waiting list for eligible vaccinations who have not yet been able to get a free date for a corona vaccination until the beginning of next week.

Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) said on Monday that the demand for a vaccination was particularly high among Saarlanders over 80.

He is very happy about this willingness to vaccinate.

«So that these people do not have to try several times to get a vaccination appointment when the vaccine is scarce, we have decided to make the registration system fairer.

For this reason we will soon be offering a waiting list, ”he said.

According to the information, all those eligible for the first vaccination group, including those over 80 years of age, can register for this waiting list.

You should then receive an appointment for a vaccination at one of the three vaccination centers.

If this appointment cannot be accepted for important reasons, it is possible to make a new appointment via the hotline, provided that alternatives are still available.

“Around 120,000 Saarlanders are first entitled to the vaccination ordinance of the federal government and the permanent vaccination commission,” said Health Minister Monika Bachmann (CDU).

"We currently only have 35,000 vaccine doses per month for vaccination appointments, which shows that we will need three to four months with the current vaccine quantities to vaccinate the eligible group of the second priority in April."

The operator of the online booking portal is working flat out on a technical revision of the platform with the aim of introducing a waiting list, she explained.

In addition, the number of employees at the hotline service provider will be increased.
