Offenbach / Main (dpa / lhe) - A man is said to have insulted a rabbi anti-Semitically in downtown Offenbach.

According to the police, the Jewish clergyman was on his way home with his children on New Year's Day.

Several witnesses to the incident alerted the officials, who later provisionally arrested the suspect.

The 46-year-old is now being investigated for, among other things, incitement to hatred, insults and the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations, as the police announced on Monday.

The drunk man - a first test showed 1.3 per mille - is said to have insulted police officers at the police station.
