The Iranian government has announced that it has begun work on producing 20% uranium, which deviates significantly from the nuclear deal.

By demonstrating its stance of accelerating nuclear development, Iran is also expected to urge the next administration of Biden in the United States to lift sanctions on Iran as soon as possible.

According to state television, a spokesman for the Iranian presidential office, Rabbie, said yesterday that he had begun work on the production of 20% concentrated uranium at the Foldu nuclear facility in central Iran.

It has been pointed out that uranium with a concentration of 20% deviates significantly from the nuclear agreement, and that when it reaches 20%, the time to produce uranium at a level that can be converted to nuclear weapons will be shortened.

However, the spokesman did not mention when it would reach 20%.

Prior to this, the IAEA = International Atomic Energy Agency revealed to NHK that it had been notified in a letter on December 31 by the Iranian Nuclear Agency that it intends to increase uranium enrichment to 20%. I did.

While President-elect Joe Biden of the United States has expressed his intention to return to the nuclear agreement that the Trump administration has unilaterally withdrawn, Iran will show an attitude to accelerate nuclear development, and will reach an early nuclear agreement with the next administration of Biden. It seems that there is also an aim to urge him to return and lift sanctions on Iran.
