The Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards stopped a South Korean-flagged merchant ship, the MTHankuk Chemi, bound for the United Arab Emirates near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Pasdaran, the freighter, which allegedly transported over 7,000 tons of ethanol, was seized due to risks of "environmental pollution" in the Persian Gulf and was taken to an Iranian port.

Local media reports.

MarineTraffic.com satellite data shows that MT Hankuk Chemi is off the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. The boat was traveling from Saudi Arabia to Fujairah. The owners of the ship could not be reached at the moment.
