Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The Hessian state government is in favor of allowing children and young people in the corona pandemic to go back to school as soon as possible.

Hesse is of course committed to as much face-to-face teaching as is infectiously justifiable, said a spokesman for Culture Minister Alexander Lorz (CDU) on Monday at the request of the German Press Agency in Wiesbaden.

However, this does not apply at any price and, in a first step, especially for younger age groups and for the older ones in the alternate model.

The school lockdown was agreed by the federal and state governments in mid-December as part of the shutdown of all public life by the end of this week.

Before the next meeting of the heads of government of the federal states with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) on Tuesday, the ministers of education met for a switching conference to discuss a possible extension of the school closings.

The Hessian state chairman of the Association of Education and Upbringing (VBE), Stefan Wesselmann, demanded clear and reliable statements in order to be able to plan the school operation.

The association is aware that there is a difficult balancing act to master between educational equity and health protection for everyone in school.

But if you want to stick to face-to-face teaching, while reducing contacts and guaranteeing gaps, there is no getting around the change model.
