Erfurt (dpa / th) - Despite the corona lockdown and the associated closure of restaurants and hotels, Thuringian restaurant workers receive more money.

At the beginning of the year, fees in the Thuringian hospitality industry rose by a further 3.65 percent.

The union of food-pleasure-restaurants (NGG), Thuringia region, drew attention to this on Monday.

It is the last and third stage of the pay increases that had been agreed in the collective agreement that has been in force since 2019.

"Anyone who has to make do with 60 or 67 percent short-time work allowance at the already low wages is happy about every increase," said the NGG managing director for the Thuringia region, Jens Löbel. A young skilled worker would now receive 1949 euros gross per month and a skilled worker after two years 2100 euros gross. With around 30,000 employees, the hospitality industry is one of the most important sectors in Thuringia. According to the NGG, the collective agreement can be terminated for the first time on December 31, 2021.
