Mannheim (AP) - The Danish world champion coach Nikolaj Jacobsen does not expect a World Cup medal for the German handball players after the numerous cancellations.

"For you, after all the cancellations, the quarter-finals are probably the maximum," said the ex-coach of Rhein-Neckar Löwen in an interview with "Mannheimer Morgen" (Monday).

"The Germans cannot replace the middle block with Hendrik Pekeler and Patrick Wiencek, then Finn Lemke is missing as an alternative."

That was very hard for national coach Alfred Gislason, added the 49-year-old.

"But in these times there are bigger and more important things in the world than World Cup cancellations, to have pity on someone."

The World Cup will take place in Egypt from January 13th to 31st.
