Munich (dpa) - The successes of their basketball players in the elite Euroleague caused enthusiasm among the bosses of FC Bayern.

“The team as they play now is wonderful,” said Honorary President Uli Hoeneß in the club's own podcast “Open Court” on Monday.

“The team's morale is unique and so is the quality.

Excellent work has been done here.

The team has a structure and a good atmosphere.

Everything is right, it's really fun. "

With eleven wins and six defeats, Munich recently finished the first half of the Euroleague as the fourth-best team.

Bayern suffered their second defeat in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Hoeneß 'successor Herbert Hainer praised the work of coach Andrea Trinchieri, who came to Munich in the summer and acts as an extreme motivator.

"He can be direct, because it really gets down to the nitty-gritty," reported the Munich president.

The goals are now big.

"We want to make Munich the European basketball capital, we have that claim," said Hainer.

A new multifunctional hall (SAP Garden) will soon be added as a second venue and give the club a further boost.

"I do believe that FC Bayern basketball can be a draft horse in Europe," said Hoeneß.

"It would be a dream if FC Bayern were also in charge of basketball."
