Recently, Expressen revealed that Dan Eliasson, Director General of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), flew to the Canary Islands five days before Christmas - despite going against the agency's recommendations to refrain from unnecessary travel.

Now the Minister of the Interior, Mikael Damberg, has commented on Eliasson's Christmas trip and announced that they will meet to discuss the incident.

“Everyone has a responsibility to follow the authorities' recommendations, avoid congestion and keep the spread of infection down.

I have read the media's report on Dan Eliasson's journey and my Secretary of State has recently been in contact with him.

I will meet Dan Eliasson later this week to listen and talk through the situation that has arisen ", writes Mikael Damberg in a comment to SVT Nyheter.

"The journey is necessary"

Dan Eliasson has previously responded to the criticism he has received for the trip.

- I have made the assessment that the trip is necessary.

I have a daughter who lives here and works here.

And I celebrated Christmas with her and my family, Dan Eliasson told Expressen.
