  The 500-meter spherical radio telescope (FAST), known as the "China Sky Eye", will be officially opened to the global scientific community on April 1, 2021, soliciting observation applications from global scientists.

  The reporter learned from the "China Sky Eye" Operation and Development Center of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that from April 1st, scientists from various countries can submit observation applications to the National Astronomical Observatory online. The applied projects will be submitted to the "China Sky Eye" scientific committee and time The allocation committee will review, put forward project selection suggestions, and allocate observation time from August 1.

  According to Jiang Peng, the executive deputy director and chief engineer of the "China Sky Eye" operation and development center, in the first year of opening to the global scientific community, it is estimated that approximately 10% of the observation time allocated to foreign scientists will be allocated.

  In accordance with scientific goals and related strategic planning, the "China Sky Eye" has established a number of priority and major projects, including multi-scientific target drift scan survey, neutral hydrogen galaxy survey, galaxy polarization survey, pulsar timing, fast radio burst observation, etc. , But observation applications are not limited to these areas.
