Berlin (dpa) - The President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Hermann Parzinger, looks confidently to the cooperation of those responsible in the new Humboldt Forum, which was previously only digitally accessible.

"The institutional construction of the Humboldt Forum with its various actors is certainly not easy," said Parzinger of the German Press Agency in Berlin.

“But we work very, very well together, with the general manager and his team as well as with our partners, the Humboldt University and the City Museum.

That is a crucial basis for the success of the project. "

The center for culture, art and science, which costs 677 million euros, will in future be used by two of the Foundation's museums, the State of Berlin and the Humboldt University, under Artistic Director Hartmut Dorgerloh.

After the opening steps planned for the end of 2021, exhibits from Asia, Africa, America and Oceania as well as objects on the history of Berlin will be shown.

The approximately 40,000 square meter building designed by the Italian architect Franco Stella is behind the much criticized reconstructed facade of the Hohenzollern Palace.

According to Parzinger, the foundation's museums are currently preparing the works of art affected by the relocation.

«Years ago we set up a restoration street in Dahlem.

There, experts prepare the objects for the move, it works like an assembly line, at the same time highly competent and very carefully ”.

There it is detoxified, conserved, restored, photographed, digitized, depending on the case.

"We are now largely finished, we are at the start and can move immediately with the approximately 20,000 objects."

To do this, climate stability in the Humboldt Forum must be guaranteed.

«We hope it starts in January.

Then we can ensure that we can present the objects on the second and third floors in good time as planned. "
