Erfurt (dpa / th) - According to the Ministry of the Environment, at least 1,000 more public charging stations for electric cars will have to be built in Thuringia in the next decade.
The ministry announced on request that this was the result of a study by the Bauhaus Mobility Lab in Erfurt.
According to this, the researchers forecast a need for Thuringia for up to 1,500 charging stations with two charging points each or around 750 quick charging stations in 2030.
They assumed that around 90,000 e-cars and a further 27,000 hybrid vehicles would then be registered.
There are currently around 400 charging stations in the Free State.
A network of fast charging stations in residential areas as well as charging stations in retail parking lots, at petrol stations and at companies are recommended.
Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens) spoke of necessary investments in the future.
Together with Thüringer Energie AG and the municipal utilities, the state started the project in 2017 and at that time the first 40 public charging stations.
The ministry has since supported the investment with around 800,000 euros.
There is currently an average of seven electric cars on one charging station.
The EU target of one charging station per ten electric cars would thus be more than achieved.
