  • The tariffs for the unlimited TAN formulas are reduced by 20%.

  • The reduction applies automatically from January 1, 2021.

  • Transport will be free on weekends from September.

You may have missed the information the day after the New Year.

However, this is good news for Nantes public transport users.

Since January 1, the prices of subscriptions to the Semitan network have decreased by 20%.

All unlimited formulas are concerned, including family pass or solidarity pricing.

The basic unlimited rate goes from 616 euros to 492.80 euros.

The “tailor-made packages” also drop by 20% once the travel limit is reached.

For current subscribers, the reduction takes place automatically.

This tariff reduction, which comes after ten consecutive years of increases, was an electoral promise by the mayor of Nantes, Johanna Rolland (PS), as part of her second term.

It was then validated by the elected representatives of Nantes Métropole on July 17.

“This is both a measure in favor of the purchasing power of citizens and users and a concrete response to ecological issues,” explains Nantes Métropole.

The objective is to encourage residents to abandon their cars.

Free the weekend to come

The measure is far from being trivial for the finances of the public authority since it represents a shortfall of at least 8 million euros.

It intervenes, moreover, in a context where attendance and the receipts of tickets that go with it have significantly decreased since the coronavirus.

However, the second stage of Johanna Rolland's electoral promise, "free public transport on weekends", will "not be called into question": the entire Semitan network (tram, bus, navibus, etc) will be free for everyone from the start of the September 2021 school year, assures the metropolis.

In the meantime, TAN continues to adapt to health restrictions.

Due to the curfew, frequencies from 8 p.m. are reduced until the end of the service, without modification of the amplitude.

The three tram lines and line 4 of the busway stop at 12:30 am.

The chronobus network and busway line 5 stop at 10:30 p.m.
