Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) - A waste paper warehouse at a Pforzheim supermarket caught fire on Saturday evening.

The fire brigade was on site for extinguishing work, as a police spokesman said.

Since the warehouse and the shop are connected by the common roof, the emergency services have to laboriously ensure that the fire does not spread.

"The fire brigade has to open the roof because you don't know how far the fire in the roof area has worked its way into the market," said the spokesman.

A thermal imaging camera should also be used in the search for embers.

The operation could drag on well into the night, it said.
