2021 has just started and the fight against drug trafficking continues in style.

A total of 19 people arrested and almost

four tons of hashish

seized are the partial balance of the first major anti-drug operation that transcends in the new year and that has allowed the dismantling of a dangerous group settled in the Cadiz town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda that hid the drug in pockets buried in greenhouses.

This network, which had been investigated by the Civil Guard for seven months, stood out for the

violence

with which its actions permeated, a characteristic that in recent times has become a hallmark of the traffickers operating in that area of the coast. from Cádiz.

An agent who works on the ground confesses to this newspaper that "the area has been heating up" for "about six months" as a result of the overturns - drug theft - and pressure from the security forces.

This new scenario, he points out, would be behind the increase in

attacks

on agents that are taking place at that point and the fact that these types of criminals increasingly carry higher caliber weapons.

A fact that can be seen days after the dismantling of the largest group supplying weapons to the drug traffickers in Campo de Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol, capable of providing AK-47s, all kinds of pistols and even explosives.

The drug trafficking network, in addition to being very hermetic, which has made the Armed Institute's investigation notably difficult, was versatile when it came to lining up the hashish.

If they used the route of the mouth of the Guadalquivir river, they used

semi-rigid

boats

to introduce the drug;

But if the chosen route was the beach of La Jara, they opted to make a transshipment on the high seas and transport the bundles in recreational boats.

Despite taking numerous security measures, the investigators located the

leader

, who was in charge of directing all the operations and maintaining contacts with Moroccan organizations.

At a lower level, was the logistics manager who, in addition to being involved in the transfers and launching of the boats, was supposedly responsible for the supply of fuel and the execution of the caches.

Four family members acted as

lieutenants

and the leader's most trusted personnel.

Among its functions were the maintenance and supply of cargo vehicles and vessels.

Another of them also served as head of the colla - the hashish carriers.

Those responsible for the case identified another group, made up of seven people, who carried out various tasks within the organization.

Two other individuals were responsible for

security

at the caches.

One of them also provided mobile phones for network use and the other would also be in charge of tuning the boats and vehicles used to carry out the illegal activities.

The follow-ups and procedures also made it possible to know the identities of the crews of the boats, which form a very important step and are among the most exposed, which is why they are one of the most paid.

Zulo buried

Last August, three months after the investigations began, those responsible for the case learned that the organization was going to produce a cache in the area known as

Monte Algaida

.

After setting up a special device, one of the agents observed inside a greenhouse near the stash point that the soil had been removed, so they excavated there and found a concrete slab 1.5 meters deep. .

Under it, a den inside which were 46 bales of hashish weighing 1,378 kilos.

Sources close to the case have specified that the traffickers

shoveled

the hole in which the deposit in which the drugs was kept was hidden "for a long time" to confuse the security forces.

During the course of the investigation, and in the following months, other caches with 830,398 and 1,200 kilograms of the same drug were seized from the same drug traffickers.

Once all the members of the network had been located, the exploitation phase of the Misterio operation was carried out, in which nine searches were made at homes in

Sanlúcar de Barrameda

and in which 200 civil guards from the Cádiz Command participated, OCON -SUR, CRAIN, GAR and GRS.

So far,

19 people

have been arrested

and 3,800 kilos of hashish have been seized, five boats -between semi-rigid and recreational-, four engines, 36,000 euros, as well as 13 vehicles, two firearms and different electronic devices.
