The funeral of Robert Hossein, who died Thursday the day after his 93 years, will be celebrated Wednesday without family intimacy in Vittel (Vosges), his wife, actress Candice Patou, told AFP.

"For the public and Robert's artist friends, there will be a commemorative mass in Paris in January," she added, specifying that the director and monument of the popular theater had died in a clinic near Nancy ( Vosges).

"He did not die of the coronavirus," she further indicated.

"Robert loved the public. I am overwhelmed by the countless testimonies of anonymous people and I thank them from the bottom of my heart," said Candice Patou.

"With the city of Vittel (Editor's note where the couple lived for a few years), we are considering the creation of a Robert Hossein foundation and a museum to perpetuate his memory", underlined the actress.

Unforgettable Count of Peyrac in the cinematographic saga of "Angélique" and famous for his mega-productions on stage, Robert Hossein shot dozens of films from 1948 to 2019, notably giving the reply to Brigitte Bardot in "Le repos du guerrier" ( 1962) and becoming Roger Vadim's favorite actor ("Le Vice et la Vertu" in 1963, "Barbarella" in 1968).
