January 02, 2021 The UK will increase its weekly vaccine doses manufactured by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca to two million per week by mid-month. The Times reports citing a prominent member of the team. In late December, Health Minister Matt Hancock announced an overall order for 100 million doses from AstraZeneca, enough to cover the entire population. The plan was for the delivery of 530,000 doses early next week.

According to the Times source, however, the first supply will be one million doses and at full capacity it will reach two million per week by mid-month. However, another source stated that the supply chain is fragile and the loss of even one dose could affect the immunization campaign.
