A Saudi study: Performing Umrah takes 75 minutes under Corona

Two studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia revealed that "the total average time for performing Umrah from the beginning of Tawaf to the end of the quest reached 75 minutes" this year, according to the researchers' follow-up of the behavior of a sample of 3275 pilgrims.

Today, Saturday, the Saudi electronic newspaper, Sabad, stated that these two studies, which were completed by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque and rely on “statistics and questionnaires,” showed that during the current Hijri year, 1442, and in light of the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, “the average circumambulation It reached 25 minutes, and the average transition from Tawaf to Masaa was eight minutes, while the average quest was 42 minutes, and the total average time for performing Umrah from the beginning of Tawaf to the end of the quest was 75 minutes.

The two studies aim, according to “previously”, to investigate the effectiveness of preventive health measures in light of the outbreak of the epidemic and the behavior of pilgrims towards it, in addition to knowing the extent of their satisfaction with the various measures adopted to facilitate the performance of Umrah rituals, this exceptional sanitary condition.

At the beginning of last November, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that it would partially allow the performance of Umrah for those coming from outside the Kingdom, for the first time since it was suspended due to the repercussions of the Corona virus.

It has been permitted to perform Umrah, visit and prayers for citizens and residents from inside and outside the Kingdom since the first of last November.

The third phase allows 20,000 pilgrims and 60,000 worshipers per day, to absorb the capacity that takes into account the sanitary precautionary measures of the Grand Mosque.
