Berlin (dpa / bb) - On New Year's Eve, several cars caught fire or were set on fire in Berlin.

Nobody was injured, as the police announced on Friday.

Around 9 p.m. strangers also set fire to two electric scooters in Harbigstrasse in Westend.

According to the information, two people ran away from the crime scene shortly before the fire broke out.

In the Schönhauser Allee in Prenzlauer Berg around 0.15 a.m., a group of four to five people is said to have set a car on fire.

Alarmed firefighters put out the fire, but the car was severely damaged.

Another car burned at around 1.30 a.m. on Finchleystrasse in Berlin-Lichtenrade and was destroyed by the flames.

A car in Stockholmer Strasse (corner of Heubuder Strasse) in Gesundbrunnen also burned out completely.

According to the police, it was set on fire by strangers.

Another car was set on fire in a parking garage in the Lichterfelder Celsiusstraße and destroyed in the process.

The flames would also have seriously damaged two other cars.

Around 2:10 a.m., a group of six to eight young people reportedly set fire to a moped on Strelitzer Strasse in Berlin-Mitte, which burned out completely.

According to the police, two parked cars were also damaged by the heat.

The fire commissioner at the State Criminal Police Office initiated investigations in all cases.
