Trump announces extension of immigration and work visa ban for another 3 months

On December 31, 2020 local time, US President Trump announced the extension of the immigration and work visa ban for three months, so that the ban will continue to take effect after Biden takes office.

Trump said that the entry of foreign labor into the domestic market is detrimental to the fundamental interests of the United States, and the visa ban protects domestic workers in the United States.

This visa ban was first introduced in April 2020 and was announced in June to extend to December 31. It aims to prevent foreign laborers from obtaining immigration status through employment relationships, and thus does not apply to spouses and children of US citizens.

Biden has stated that he will overturn Trump's immigration policy, but he has not expressed that he will lift the visa ban.
