During the night, the police handled around 235 cases in Östergötland between 10 pm and 7 am.

Five arrested

In total, the police arrested five people during New Year's Eve, all in connection with assault.

Two of the people are now in custody.

One of the alarms came at 01.39 and then the police were informed of an assault in Linköping.

At the scene, a man, who is in his 30s, is said to have abused a woman with whom he has a relationship.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

At 02.01, the police were alerted to a home in Motala due to a riot.

At the scene, a man, in his 25s, is said to have abused a woman he has a relationship with.

The man was arrested and arrested later in the morning.

Several fires

Several alarms were also received by the rescue service about fire in cars, fireworks and containers.
