In 2020, RT readers, within the framework of the charitable project "We will continue to act" (DDM), helped 234 people in need.

Some of them needed funds for treatment and rehabilitation, others - for the repair of a dilapidated house or for the purchase of a wheelchair.

The total amount collected was 42.5 million rubles.

In addition, during the first wave of the pandemic that swept the country, the DDM project supported 27 doctors and provided hot meals for 50 medical staff.

A separate topic was the training camp for children with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), the cost of medicines for which amounts to tens of millions of rubles.

At the moment, the project "DDBM" helps 27 families with such children.

Also in 2020, the RT charity project paid special attention to children with cerebral palsy.

During the year, 83 stories of special patients were published.

In 64 cases, funds were required for rehabilitation, walkers, medications, tickets, exercise equipment, wheelchairs and special strollers.

In the remaining 19 cases, caring people helped the parents of children with cerebral palsy to purchase special food.

On the eve of the New Year, RT decided to recall some of the heroes who received assistance within the framework of the DDBM project.

Girl dreaming about stage

In October, Galiya Bakhtiyeva from the Saratov region made an unusual request to the SDBM.

She asked 180 thousand rubles for a professional balalaika for her seriously ill 17-year-old daughter Sonya.

The girl dreams of a big stage.

As Galia told RT, two years ago, her daughter started having health problems.

The woman took Sonya to the doctors for a month, who eventually made a disappointing diagnosis - nasopharyngeal cancer.

A year later, Sonya went into remission, but in November 2019, she was again diagnosed with metastases.

After removing the lymph nodes and biopsy, the doctors made a new diagnosis - melanoma.

The doctors did not give a chance that Sonya would survive, but she got out.

Music helps the girl not to lose hope of recovery.

She plays the balalaika.

Even in the midst of the fight against the disease, despite the harsh chemotherapy, Sonya was able to perform on the stage of the Helikon-Opera and enter the conservatory on the budget.

However, in order to continue her studies, Sonya needed a professional musical instrument, and all the family's money goes to treatment.

The DDBM project helped to raise 180 thousand rubles for Sonya for a balalaika.

Playing on it, the girl approaches her dream and for a while forgets about her serious illness.

Miracle at Christmas

Another unusual request was made by a resident of the Far East, Nikolai Kharchenko.

He asked for help with buying new furniture and a laptop for Lera's eldest daughter, who risked her life to save her younger brother.

As the man said, in January 2020, there was a fire on Christmas Day - the house burned down.

13-year-old Lera, saving her three-year-old brother from the fire, received burns.

For her heroism, the girl was awarded a diploma from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and was nominated for the medal "For Salvation".

After the fire, the family was left homeless.

To buy a log house for a new house, Nikolai had to sell his car.

But the money for furniture was no longer enough, and Nikolay turned to the "DDBM".

After the publication, readers helped to raise the necessary funds for furniture, and at the same time for a laptop for Lera.

Funds for rehabilitation

In August, the mother of 26-year-old Albert Valiev from Mozdok, Tamara, turned to “DDM” for help.

The woman said that two years ago, her son got into a serious accident.

Due to a strong blow, Albert flew out of the car and received a closed craniocerebral injury and severe brain contusion.

For 30 days Albert was in a coma.

Doctors did not give a chance that he would survive, but he came to his senses.

According to the mother, the son was virtually motionless, could not drink and eat on his own.

After rehabilitation at the research and clinical center in Lytkarino near Moscow, at the Three Sisters rehabilitation center, at the Burdenko Institute, at the Emergencies Ministry clinic, as well as at the Alternative Plus clinic in Voronezh, Albert began to fix his eyes, smile, raise his hand and wiggle his fingers.

As the woman told RT, she learned that they can help her son get back on his feet at the Guttman Institute in Spain.

However, the amount of treatment for three months amounted to € 64 thousand. The family did not have such funds, and they turned for help at the “DDM”.

Albert's story did not leave RT readers indifferent.

The collection of 5 million rubles was closed in a matter of days, and the young man got to the rehabilitation, which was so necessary for him.
