Garmisch-Partenkirchen (dpa) - Team world champion Richard Freitag is happy that the ski jumping year 2020 is finally over.

“I would just put a very, very big hook on the year because it was really a shit-and-so-on year.

Really really bad, ”said the 29-year-old at the second Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Friday did qualify for the New Year's competition, but was not allowed to jump in the German World Cup team at all before the start of the tour.

In the winter of 2017/18, Friday had wins, podiums and second place in the overall World Cup.

One winter later, he won the world championship title with the German jump quartet on the dreaded Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck.

He is currently doing “two steps forward, one backward, two forward, two backward”, analyzed Friday.

"It's really tough."

Friday finds it difficult that he has only been able to hone his jump form in training for months.

"We like to train, but we prefer to compete."
