Munich (dpa / lby) - The emergency services had already expected that it would be a quieter New Year's Eve: contact and exit restrictions as well as the ban on the sale of fireworks meant that comparatively few operations could be expected.

“But we would not have thought that it would be so quiet for New Year's Eve,” summed up a spokesman for the Munich fire brigade.

No New Year's Eve injuries caused by firecrackers were treated.

There were also no fires caused by fireworks.

Elsewhere in Bavaria, most fire brigades and police stations also had a quiet evening compared to previous years.

The Nuremberg city center was "orphaned" on New Year's Eve, as a police spokesman said.

Previously, the towns and districts of Middle Franconia had decided to ban firecrackers on New Year's Eve and New Year, which also applies in private gardens and on balconies.

Although this was violated in some places, the police left it with instructions as long as the whole thing happened on private property.

In Lower Franconia, people were on the street at midnight, but here, too, “everything is fine,” said a spokesman.

The police in Lower Bavaria were also satisfied; no violations were found there.

The situation was different in the Upper Palatinate, where the police went to around 30 missions on New Year's Eve due to possible violations of the infection control measures and broke up several New Year's parties.

Complaints about disturbance of the peace there were made aware of celebrations with many households and violations of the exit restrictions.

In Upper Franconia, the police also reported several people for violating the exit restrictions.

In the districts of Coburg and Lichtenfels in particular, the officials found people gathering on the street for no good reason.

The police in Upper Bavaria were “amazed” at the relatively calm situation.

"People adhere to the corona restrictions," said a police spokesman.

The emergency services in Swabia also had a very quiet New Year's Eve.

There are no parties or gatherings, said a police spokesman.

The impression from Swabia coincides with most of Bavaria: According to the spokesman, the night was “not comparable to a normal New Year's Eve”.
