It was at 06.30 on Friday morning that the rescue service was alerted to a fire in a residence in Norrköping.
When they arrived at the scene, the fire had been extinguished by an automatic sprinkler system.
A person was taken by ambulance to hospital from the scene and according to a bulletin from the Östergötland Region, the person is seriously injured and the situation is critical.
The person has been admitted to the intensive care unit.
According to Dennis Johansson Strömberg, it is suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in an electric bed.
