Berlin (dpa) - Union Berlin's top striker Max Kruse does not only want to remember the year 2020 negatively.

“Corona, of course, a real shitty situation, but I think a lot of people also had positive things, privately, professionally, whatever.

We are definitely satisfied with what we have achieved this year.

I think that as a Unioner you can look back on it with pride, ”said the currently injured attacking player of the Bundesliga club in an Instagram story.

Kruse will miss the iron game at his ex-club Werder Bremen on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) because of his torn muscle.

The 30-year-old rates the surprising jump to sixth place in the Bundesliga as a great success.

"We finished the year very well, that's what stuck," said the former international.

Kruse will probably not be able to intervene again for Union until the end of the month.

Before his muscle injury in the Berlin derby against Hertha BSC (1: 3) at the beginning of December, he played a major role in the unexpected upswing for Union with six goals this season.

From 2009 to 2016, Kruse played Bremen for Union's next opponent.
