Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - Because there was a fire in a cellar of an apartment building in Neubrandenburg (Mecklenburg Lake District) on New Year's Eve, the building had to be evacuated.
There is suspicion of arson, the police said.
Accordingly, furniture had burned in the basement of the building - residents then dialed the emergency number.
According to the police, there was damage to property amounting to 40,000 euros;
nobody got hurt.
After the fire was extinguished, the residents were able to return to their apartments.
The police are now investigating "suspected serious arson".
