We are going to have a very good year

 !

It is with these words that a director of the government panel against Covid-19 in India formalized the news.

Emergency authorization has been granted for the administration of the Covishield vaccine from

the firm AstraZeneca

, known as the Oxford vaccine.

The request had been filed with Indian medical authorities by the Serum Institute of India, the world's largest vaccine producer.

In the race since June, he claims to have already manufactured more than 50 million doses.

The vaccines could be transported from cold stores to Indian states as early as Saturday, January 2.

The Oxford vaccine is raising high hopes in the country because it is particularly cheap, at less than 3 euros per dose.

It also keeps at higher temperatures than other candidates, which will facilitate its distribution.

It will be administered in priority to the most exposed and fragile people.

Covishield is the first vaccine to be approved by Indian authorities.

The giant Bharat Biotech has also requested emergency authorization for its Covaxin vaccine, invented and produced in India.

It could be delivered to him as early as next week.
