Clandestine parties, taken to task by the police: incidents punctuated New Year's Eve everywhere in France, despite a night "generally calm" according to the entourage of the Ministry of the Interior.

Europe 1 takes stock, pending a more detailed assessment, which will be communicated during the day.

A “generally calm” New Year's Eve, according to the entourage of the Ministry of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.

If the final results of this New Year's Eve will be unveiled during the day, several incidents have still punctuated the night.

Despite the curfew and the assembly bans, the police intervened several times during the night to interrupt clandestine parties all over France.

One of the most important took place in Marseille, in a large room where nearly 400 revelers gathered.

In the west of Paris, in Nanterre, more than 70 revelers were fined in an association room where the police arrested 2 officials.

They also found a large amount of nitrous oxide, a laughing gas that can wreak havoc.

Other underground parties were also interrupted in Paris, Gennevilliers, Montfermeil, Villeneuve-la-Garenne or Neuilly-Plaisance, among others.

Fireworks mortar fire against the police

With regard to urban violence, the curfew has apparently helped contain the phenomenon.

If the overall toll of burnt vehicles is not yet known, the first feedback from the field suggests that it will be lower than last year's record, when 1,457 cars were burnt.

The minister's entourage, however, deplored "many" attacks on the police, in particular with fireworks mortars.

In Bordeaux, incidents broke out in the Aubiers district, with a post office burnt down, several bus stops destroyed as well as a bungalow belonging to the agglomeration's public transport company, sources told AFP policewomen.
