Garmisch-Partenkirchen (dpa) - Last year's winner Marius Lindvik cannot take part in the qualification for the New Year's jumping of the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The 22-year-old has severe toothache and traveled to a dentist in Innsbruck, as the organizers announced on Thursday shortly before the start of qualification.

This means that Lindvik is also canceled for the competition on January 1st.

The Norwegian finished third in Karl Geiger's opening win in Oberstdorf on Tuesday and was therefore well placed in the overall standings.

Last year he won in Garmisch and Innsbruck and was second in the overall tour ranking behind the Polish winner Dawid Kubacki.
