The Gallup Institute on Wednesday unveiled its 74th annual survey of America's Most Admired People.

And it is Donald Trump, still president for a few weeks, who comes out on top.

A surprising result which can be explained by the loyalty of Republican respondents and by the dilution of responses from Democratic sympathizers.

The polls are sometimes a little surprising, such as that came on Wednesday from the United States.

The Gallup Institute has released the results of its annual poll, its 74th, of Americans Most Admired.

And it is a certain Donald Trump who comes first.

Donald Trump in front of Barack Obama

The current US president will be leaving the White House in a few weeks, and yet he still inspires many Americans.

18% placed it in first or second position.

This is the best score of this survey.

Donald Trump comes just ahead of his predecessor Barack Obama, who had been at the top of the rankings for twelve years.

And in recent years, Donald Trump has been following Barack Obama in this poll.

The two men were even tied in 2019.

The Gallup Institute explains that in fact, the president benefits from his very strong popularity among Republican polls, while the Democrats' vote has been more dispersed: 15% for Barack Obama, 6% for Joe Biden or 3% for Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Michelle Obama tops the women's rankings

The numbers seem surprisingly low, however.

But be aware that many people actually answer the question by the name of a friend or acquaintance.

Finally, there is a female ranking and there it is Michelle Obama who retains the first place for the third consecutive year.

She is ahead of future Vice President Kamala Rice and the current First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
